Choose the Right Colors

RGB Vesus CMYK

As a designer, sometimes you will be just out somewhere and all of a sudden, a beautiful, profound idea will enter your thoughts in a split second. But how do you record and express your idea? The color. Color is the language of your design. Be color’s friend, play with colors, and create a cool design with color combinations. Photoshop will always be a good tool for designer to record their design and modify it on the product. But there is one thing designer need to know before start selling your design.

The color from your design programs and the picture printing on your shoes will have some distinction. Since the color in the screen and real world printing is in two different color systems, RGB( red green blue) and CMYK(Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key/black). So what is the difference between them?

RGB color model is developed by visual based, in other words, from the nature light. So RGB model is also apply for our computer screen devices to present pictures. But, CMYK, which colors are presented by overlaying the 4 based colors, is the original principle for the printers all over the world.

If you uploaded your design picture created by RGB model, you will lose colors when converting it into CMYK. Following are some tips for you to avoid the color trap:

1. Check color model before design

We highly recommend all our customers use some online RGB to CMYK converter to check which colors of your design are out of CMYK color space and fix it. You can watch the following training video for you as reference:

Use .jpg for output format and set the CMYK profile to SWOP2006.

2. Product Samples

Ordering samples for your design products is always the best way for designer to review and quality control their manufactured products. 3. NO neon colors in RGB

Printer do not support the neon colors so please avoid neon colors in your design. If you want to start your design with CMYK model, you can google search "switch to CMYK" with your program name.
